Tony Khan: I Would Have Supported Adam Copeland Being Part Of John Cena’s Farewell Tour

Tony Khan says he would have supported any decision to involve Adam Copeland in John Cena’s Farewell Tour.

In 2025, the WWE was preparing their goodbyes for John Cena, who planned a year-long farewell tour after over 20 years of competing in the world of professional wrestling where he left behind one of the greatest legacies in WWE history. Cena’s final year saw him revisit old enemies, stepping out there against the likes of Randy Orton, CM Punk, AJ Styles, and plenty others. However, one name that was not involved was Edge, and Tony Khan has now addressed whether he’d have allowed the AEW star to take part in Cena’s last year.

In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro UK, Tony Khan answered a question on if he would have been interested in allowing Adam Copeland/ Edge to come back to WWE for one night to battle Cena, Khan says he would have supported the idea if given a plan, a date, and a time for it to all come to life.

“I was never asked, and as far as I know, Adam was never asked, so it’s hard to say. But when there have been opportunities to collaborate, I have been collaborative in the past. I never got asked, but if I had been presented a plan and the dates and the information of what was going on, yeah, I would have supported it.”

Cena’s Farewell Tour would end with a tournament that featured some stars that weren’t signed to the company at the time, including Matt Cardona/ Zack Ryder and Nic Nemeth/ Dolph Ziggler being involved in the bracket to see if they could reach the finals and battle their old foe. In the end, though, Cena would go on to battle Gunther on December 13, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event where he’d tap out to the Ring General and end his pro wrestling career once and for all in the middle of the ring.

Copeland is currently one-half of the Men’s AEW World Tag Team Champions alongside his best friend Christian Cage, the duo is set to compete at AEW All In inside Wembley Stadium against the Young Bucks on August 30th. This will be the first time the that the two teams will battle each other and could be one of the last major feuds of Copeland’s career before he hangs up the boots himself.
