“Speedball” Mike Bailey truly appreciated the unity of the AEW locker room during their tribute events last week.

On a personal level, the AEW locker room has suffered some emotional blows this year, with Tanea Brooks, aka Rebel, being diagnosed with ALS, and Andy Williams, aka The Butcher, passing away at a recent indie event. As such, AEW held a special Rebel Heart Dynamite, while dedicating the following Collision to The Butcher to celebrate and honor both people. Now, Mike Bailey has praised the locker room spirit.

During his latest Vlog, Speedball Mike Bailey talked about the togetherness that the locker room showed in those moments.

“Everyone went out on the stage as they played a tribute to Andy Williams, and it was such a great moment for all of us to be going through this together. It has been a very, very difficult week for all of us, and I say this as someone who did not spend a lot of time with Andy. I only met him here and there, but I say this very often. The professional wrestling world is a community, so anytime there’s any kind of tragedy that happens, we all feel it, and we all have to and want to be there for each other. And everyone being together on that stage felt really good. Even though we’re all experiencing very, very big sadness because of this, this felt like a nice moment of togetherness.”

Indeed, it was a touching moment and highlighted just how close the AEW locker room is, as they wanted to honor Andy Williams together. Throughout the night, many in the locker room gave testimonials about their time with Andy, including people like ring announcer Justin Roberts, further showing the reach Andy had.

As for the Rebel Heart show, it was clear that everyone had Tanea on their minds, and it showed in various matches, including the women’s trios match, where Rebel came out to give Britt Baker her glove, and you could see both Baker and Hikaru Shida tearing up at the moment and the victory afterward.
