Nyla Rose Speaks On Current AEW Absence
Nyla Rose wants to be back on AEW TV, but she also appreciates all that’s going on in the company right now.
Since AEW’s inception, fans have seen high turnover from the roster they had on day one to what they have now. If you look at who was there in 2019 and who’s still around in 2026, the landscape looks incredibly different, however, there remains those that had stayed with the company for over seven years. One such talent is Nyla Rose, though the former AEW Women’s World Champion hasn’t been seen on our screens for some time, and she’s now addressed her absence.
In a chat with Denise Salcedo, Rose admitted that there are two sides to this issue of her absence:
“It is a little hard. It is a little frustrating. In this business, you do have to be a little bit selfish to a degree. You can be selfish while being selfless, and this, I think is one of those moments. I want more for myself. I want to do more. I want to entertain you guys more in a multitude of ways. So it is a little frustrating when things like that happen, but there are amazing things happening. There are great things happening, so being able to kind of sit back and see these things. See Mercedes actually rise to the top and win the AEW Women’s Championship, and now she’s starting to butt heads with Thekla. Things like this. Willow’s whole journey, things like that. It’s like, okay, we can sit back and enjoy this as well, but dammit, when’s my turn?”

Given the nature of the roster, and the fact that ROH is under the AEW banner, there’s definitely room for her to be there somewhere, including teaming up with another wrestler to form a tag team and bolster that division. To that point, it’s worth remembering that Nyla is currently one-half of Marvellous’ AAAW Tag Team Champions alongside Nightshade.
It should also be noted that Nyla has done indie events across the world during her AEW absence, including booking at date at ROH Women’s Champion Athena’s MetroPlex Wrestling event that’s upcoming. Still, many will be hoping it isn’t long before she’s back on Dynamite and Collision, although if and when she makes her on-screen return remains to be seen.
