Kofi Praises The Depth Of The AEW Locker Room

Kofi and Austin Creed are loving the opponents available to them in AEW.

The New Level has already made a big impact on All Elite Wrestling since debuting at All In: London. They won the AEW World Trios Championships in their first match, alongside Swerve Strickland, and have already notched two successful defences of the gold. With a big match likely waiting for them in the trios division at All Out, Austin Creed and Kofi have now addressed the AEW locker room.

In a chat with Renee Paquette on Close Up, Kofi noted that, for them, the depth of the AEW roster is what’s most exciting.

“I think that the roster here [in AEW] is so rich with talent. It’s really, really insane. We would be on the other side thinking about like, ‘Man, what would it be like to have a match with The Rascalz? What would it be like to have a match with Private Party? What would it be like to have a match with The Conglomeration?’ And now that it’s actually happening, it’s that fantasy booking coming true. There is literally no team that I want to avoid. I want to wrestle everybody. It’s at the point if we were to wrestle a different team every week, that would take us through half the year. How are there this many great tag teams on the roster?”

It’s fair to say that AEW has a stacked tag team and trios roster. In fact, at All In: London, New Level joined The Young Bucks, Cope and Cage, FTR, and The Motor City Machine in the ring after the tag title match to highlight just how deep the roster goes. As such, there’s plenty of interesting matchups for the former WWE World Tag Team Champions to explore as their time in All Elite Wrestling continues.

With so many possible clashes on the table, it’s worth noting that the match that many want above all, is Kofi and Austin versus the Young Bucks. Their rivalry is based on Creed’s links to the gaming world, with The New Day and The Elite even meeting to play Street Fighter at E3 in 2018.

Interestingly, Matt Jackson spoke earlier this year about trying to make The Elite vs. The New Day happen in the ring in 2018, recalling discussions he had with Triple H. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on The New Level as soon as we hear more.
