Nyla Rose Says She Doesn’t Blame Tony Khan For Current AEW Absence
Nyla Rose doesn’t blame Tony Khan for her AEW absence.
Last week, during interview with Denise Salcedo, Nyla Rose talked about her current AEW absence, having not been featured on the company’s programming in almost two years. The 44-year-old has been with AEW since its inception, and, in February 2020, she became the second woman to hold the company’s Women’s World Championship. Remaining with the promotion today, Rose has now given her view that AEW Owner Tony Khan isn’t to blame for her absence.
However, in a new interview with Off The Rails, Nyla Rose noted that the one person she doesn’t blame for this absence is Tony Khan.
“I genuinely don’t think it’s him. I genuinely, genuinely don’t think it’s him. You know how they say trust your gut? This isn’t me just glazing him because he’s my boss or anything like that. It’s just there may be some things I can’t talk about or things I can only speculate on. But in my heart of hearts, the relationship that we have and the conversations that we have, I don’t think it’s him.”

While we don’t truly know the nature of Nyla’s AEW absence, she noted in the interview with Denise Salcedo that Tony Khan stood up for her when the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission pushed back against the company from letting her wrestle in the women’s division back in 2024, suggesting Khan is fully supportive of her. Plus, this wouldn’t be the first time a wrestler was taken off our screen by forces out of our control. In the past, higher-ups at Warner Brothers Discovery stopped Jay Briscoe from appearing on AEW TV, while Trey Miguel’s momentum was halted by those above Tony Khan shortly after the debut of The Rascalz earlier this year. In both cases, though, Briscoe and Miguel were believed to have been sat out due to problematic social media comments in their past.
At present, when Rose will return to AEW remains to be seen, although she’s remained busy by competing primarily in Marvelous and EVE. In fact, she’s currently one-half ot the AAAW Tag Team Champions in Marvelous along with Nightshade.
