Steve Maclin Discusses Frustration That Led To Departure From TNA

Steve Maclin has opened up about the events that led to him leaving TNA.

There have been many departures from various wrestling promotions this year, and while some were just business, others were people asking for their releases due to creative differences with management and overall frustration. One such person was Steve Maclin, who had spent the last five years with TNA making a name for himself. Yet, he left amidst very open clashes with the company.

In a chat with TSN Sports, he elaborated on what happened.

“I kind of felt towards the end of my fifth year I was just spinning the wheels where I was throwing ideas to creative and they were taking them and then nothing would come of it. Even when I became International Champion [in April of 2025], it was like, ‘All right, cool, where are we going to? Am I going to Mexico, Japan? How are we going to make this title mean something?’ And every pitch that I threw just never came to fruition like I imagined. It just felt like I was always fighting an uphill battle where I just folded every time, like, ‘Okay, cool, whatever you guys want, then.’ For me, that’s not something I like to do, especially when I try to put every bit of me into a story to better the product, to better the company and to better the person I’m in the ring with.”

Maclin is hardly the only person in recent times to note such frustrations with TNA, as the company has lost a ton of talent over the last two years, with the company currently experiencing high roster turnover of late. Despite having a new home on AMC, the company doesn’t quite have the momentum it’s been after, and its direction for the future is unclear.

As for Maclin, he’s been at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling since his TNA departure, and he has a big match coming up against Adam Copeland this Saturday at MLP Northern Rising at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Another talent to have departed TNA recently is Mara Sadè. On that note, a recent report has suggested her next destination, with it believed she’s already put pen to paper on a deal. You can read more about that here.
