Jacy Jayne: I Thought I Was Getting Released Before NXT Women’s Championship Win

Jacy Jayne believed she wasn’t long for WWE before she won the NXT Women’s Championship.
Having officially signed with WWE in 2021, Jacy Jayne was a recognisable name to anyone who regularly tuned into NXT, but it wasn’t until last year that she really become one of the brand’s top stars. On May 27, 2025, Jayne caught many by surprise when she defeated Stephanie Vaquer to win the NXT Women’s Championship, and she certainly hasn’t looked back since. Now, though, she’s opened up about how she thought it was all going to turn out differently for her before she made it big.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Jacy Jayne revealed she genuinely believed she was going to be released prior to winning the NXT Women’s Championship.
“Before I won the title, I actually thought I was getting released. Like, two weeks before I won the title, I was having panic attacks thinking, ‘It’s over for me.’ Then I won the title, so I got my momentum going. And at that point, it was do or die. There’s no turning back. Every single time I’m on television, I have to be 100%. I have to be on my game. I can’t have any slip-ups.”

Having headed up Fatal Influence since 2024, the 30-year-old seems destined to become a mainstay at the top of WWE’s women’s division. Nowadays, Jayne is a key part of Friday Night SmackDown, currently reigning as the Women’s United States Champion.
Up next, Jayne will look to grasp an even bigger opportunity, as she takes part in this year’s women’s Money in the Bank match. Should she win, the star could well become the first woman in WWE history to hold both a midcard singles and world championship at the same time.
