Steve Maclin has been in the spotlight for all the right reasons lately, but an injury almost took that away.

In wrestling, injuries can happen at the most innocuous of times, and moments that you feel would likely cause an injury often don’t affect wrestlers like you’d expect them to. With Steve Maclin, he had been prepping for months to be ready for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising event, where he would face Adam Copeland in the former Maple Leaf Gardens, happening on October 3. Now, though, he’s revealed how the match almost didn’t happen.

On his Boots To Boots podcast, Maclin discussed how, just 10 weeks beforehand, he had a fibula injury that could’ve ruined his plans.

“First thing I thought I might lose was my match with Adam Copeland at Northern Rising for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, the Maple Leaf Gardens, which is about to be one of the biggest pay-per-views in Canadian history, I feel. Especially being at the Maple Leaf Gardens. To lose that, it sucks. It’s a moment where you get told two days before this injury happens that you’re wrestling Adam Copeland, and your entire world is just, ‘How’s this happening? Finally good things are starting to happen for me.’”

Thankfully for him, the injury didn’t take him out of the match, which was a huge boost to Northern Rising event. As of this writing, he has not officially signed anywhere else, but the situation remains one to keep an eye on moving forward.
