WWE Reportedly In Talks With US Government Over Crown Jewel Location

WWE is still advertising Crown Jewel as happening in Saudi Arabia next month, but they are also talking about the situation with the government.
The situation in Riyadh, where Crown Jewel has been scheduled to take place, continues to deteriorate with just weeks left until the show. There have been numerous attacks in the area, including at major airports, and many have been left feeling WWE should move the event away from the area. Plus, numerous other things scheduled for Riyadh in the coming weeks, including major football games, have been rescheduled or moved out of the area, further strengthening the case that Crown Jewel should follow suit. Now, an update has emerged on WWE’s approach.
According to False Finish, WWE has been in contract with U.S. government officials about the show, though the final decision will come from Ari Emanuel and TKO.
“WWE has been in contact with U.S. government officials regarding Crown Jewel but the decision on whether it happens in Riyadh or not will come from TKO officials and Ari Emanuel.”

This is backed up by what happened on Monday Night Raw last night, where they advertised matches for the event with graphics indicating it would still happen in Riyadh. They even released a new poster showing their current world champions in the city of Riyadh to further highlight the intent to keep the show in its original location.
Many have called for a change of venue, with some suggestions the company could have a backup setting ready if they decide to move. Providing another update on the situation, though, PWInsider noted that WWE is going to great lengths to try to keep it in Riyadh.
“The company has regular conversations with not only the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but also a private security firm who they contract and are experts in the region. They will not do anything without that firm giving them the affirmative. One WWE source denied the company has locked in a back-up location in Europe, which was a rumor making the rounds. The company is paying close attention to the situation.”

As of writing, the event is just 24 days away, and, while plans remain unclear, it leaves little time for WWE to announce a pivot. With their commitment to holding Crown Jewel in Riyadh seemingly unwavering, any last-minute change of venue may lead to logistical difficulty as far as selling tickets to US-based fans. As such, it becomes increasingly hard to imagine any alterations being made before November 7.
Of course, Crown Jewel is where each brand’s men’s and women’s world champions clash for the Crown Jewel Championship. As such, regardless of where the show takes place, fans will be able to look forward to Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn and Liv Morgan vs. Chelsea Green.
