Four AEW And NJPW Crossover Matches Announced For NJPW Power Struggle 2026

Four announced matches for NJPW Power Struggle will feature AEW wrestlers.

As NJPW prepares for their Super Junior Tag League, which is set to begin next week, the promotion went on to announce four matches at their upcoming Power Struggle show on November 3, all four of which pit wrestlers from The King of Sport against those from AEW.

Easily the biggest match of these four will see the legendary Kenny Omega take on Oleg Boltin and Yota Tsuji in a non-title three way clash. While it was postulated earlier this week that this would be for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, it’s important to stress the gold will not be on the line.

Even so, this is a massive match. It’s not every day that we see three-way clashes in NJPW, let alone in most promotions in Japan, so this is a treat. The last time we saw Boltin and Tsuji battle in singles competition it was during the G1 Climax where Boltin got a career-defining upset victory. While they have history from earlier this year, neither man has any with Omega, so seeing “The Cleaner” step into a ring against two men he’s never faced makes this match even more enticing.

Another AEW/NJPW non-title match set to take place will see Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders challenge Jeff Cobb and Shingo Takagi of Unbound Co. This match is built on animosity, mostly between Mox and Takagi. These two have had a handful of matches against one another dating back to Mox’s arrival in NJPW after he left WWE. As it stands, they currently have a 2-2 record against one another. On the other hand, Mox sports a 3-1 record against Jeff Cobb, who recently joined Takagi’s faction after coming back to NJPW in late August.

Heading to the title matches already announced, first we will get a chance to see Gabe Kidd defend his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against the great TAICHI. Kidd took back the Global Title from Shota Umino back on July 6, and has successfully defended the strap twice since then, once against Drilla Moloney and once in a rematch against Umino. Kidd and TAICHI is a fresh matchup in a lot of ways as they’ve only completed in singles action once back in the second round of the New Japan Cup in 2025, which TAICHI won.

It’s perhaps unlikely that TAICHI will win and earn the second most prominent heavyweight belt in the company, especially after he wasn’t even able to wrestle in the G1 at all, but I’m sure I’m not saying anything controversial when I say that most NJPW fans want the title to switch in the worst way possible.

Our final AEW/NJPW match that has been announced for Power Struggle is an IWGP Tag Team Championship bout pitting the new champs, OSKAR and Yuto-Ice of the Knockout Brothers against Callum Newman and Will Ospreay from the United Empire. This match has a lot of juice. KOB doesn’t like either Callum Newman or Will Ospreay, and, to add to that, “The Aerial Assassin” has continually chirped at OSKAR specifically on social media. Perhaps most striking thing is that KOB has beaten United Empire to take both their tag titles and trios titles, first at the Korakuen Hall show on October 6, and most recently at King of Pro Wrestling.

If all of that wasn’t good enough, add the fact that Callum Newman almost decapitated Will with his sword and then started having a ferocious verbal altercation in the back. These two men have developing hatred to say the least. While this show has the theme of AEW vs. NJPW in a lot of ways, the real war that seems to be brewing is happening within the United Empire. Don’t be surprised if Callum Newman finally snaps and attempts to kill his longtime mentor either during or following this match. Regardless of when, the United Empire civil war is coming.

NJPW Power Struggle will take place on November 3 from the Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Hiroshima. The show will stream live on New Japan World and should have English commentary.
