Tony Khan Highlights Respect For Jon Moxley Following Recent AEW Tragedies

AEW has been through a lot recently, and Jon Moxley has been praised for getting many through it.

While All Elite Wrestling is about to hit up its next major PPV via WrestleDream, it’s hard not to look at the last two months and think about the loss of life that’s happened between Andy Williams and Pac, not to mention the tribute show to Rebel in her fight against ALS. It’s fair to say the locker room has dealt with many emotions, and Tony Khan has now noted how one particular star has led by example.

During the AEW WrestleDream media call, Tony Khan was asked how important Jon Moxley has been in recent weeks. On this, khan emphasised the respect he had for Moxley, saying he can count on him as a leader.

“I think Jon Moxley is more important and better than ever right now in 2026, in and out of the ring. I have so much respect for Jon Moxley… the things he does in and out of the ring with the sport of wrestling, I think, are fantastic. He’s a tremendous locker room leader every Wednesday at Dynamite and every Saturday at Collision. I absolutely think you’re right that in recent weeks, Jon Moxley’s been incredible as a leader, and the things he’s said and done have been amazing. He’s really somebody every week that AEW can count on to be at his very best, and to lead by example. But also to push everybody to work their best and to show everybody what it is to be a professional, to be there every week, every Wednesday and every Saturday, and to set the tone.”

This is notable as, on this week’s Dynamite, Moxley let his emotions seep through during a promo segment in a moment that resonated with many fans online. The former AEW World Champion is often touted as the ace of the company by a section of viewers, and seeing him air out his frustration in a backstage segment, comforted by his wife, Renee Paquette, and fellow Death Rider, Marina Shafir, showed viewers how grief affects even those who appear strong on-screen.

Still, Moxley ploughs on as he’s set for an AEW Continental Championship defence tomorrow night. At WrestleDream, the star will put the gold on the line against Mark Davis as he looks to retain for the 10th time in his reign.
