A WWE retirement tour for Rey Mysterio in 2027 is reportedly “quite possible”.

Earlier this week, WrestleVotes via Fightful Select revealed there had been backstage chatter in WWE regarding the possibility Rey Mysterio could be set to retire in 2027. Should this come to be, it would be the fourth major retirement in the company in three years, following on from both Goldberg and John Cena in 2025 and AJ Styles in 2026. Now, an update has emerged corroborating the initial report.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed a retirement tour involving Rey Mysterio next year is “quite possible”.

“Regarding the rumors of a 2027 retirement tour and such for Rey Mysterio, we were told “It’s quite possible.””

-Dave Meltzer

Mysterio has over 35 years of in-ring experience, competing across some of the biggest promotions in the world during his career. In WWE, the 51-year-old has earned a total of three world championships, while being one of the biggest fan-favourites of all time. Having left an impact on generations for fans, many viewers will be disappointed when the time comes for him to call it a career, but, going off his performances, the star isn’t showing signs of showing down.

Most recently, Mysterio took part in a stellar triple threat match with Chad Gable and Dragon Lee over the Intercontinental Championship, showing his intent to rack up more success before the curtain falls. Plus, a few months ago, the masked legend said “never say never” with regard to another world title run. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Rey Mysterio’s possible retirement as soon as we hear more.
