NJPW Academy To Shut Down Amidst Company Reshuffling

With New Japan Pro Wrestling of America shutting down, the NJPW Academy is joining it in closing.
Within the last 24 hours, it was announced via NJPW1972.com that New Japan Pro Wrestling of America is shutting down and entering liquidation. Adding to the news, it’s now been revealed that NJPW Academy, formerly known as the LA Dojo, will be closing as well. This will be a blow to wrestling fans, as many who know the behind-the-scenes efforts to make a promotion like New Japan know that this academy/dojo was key in training certain American talents who are now in promotions all over the world.
That fact was elaborated on in the official message about the academy’s closure.
It is possible that a new academy/dojo will emerge once the restructuring via the Asashi group is done. However, that’s not a guarantee. This will be something to focus on, though, as New Japan goes through its current resurgence. It was also clarified that the promotion will still hold events in North America will the full backing of TV Asahi.
In terms of New Japan Pro Wrestling, the company recently revealed the match graphics for all the currently announced Wrestle Kingdom 21 matchups, including unveiling the stipulation for Shingo Takagi vs. Jon Moxley. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the closure of the NJPW Academy as soon as we hear more.
