AEW Announces Date For Winter Is Coming Event In Suprising Location

AEW Winter is Coming for AEW this December once again.
Today, AEW made the announcement that Winter Is Coming won’t just be arriving on December 9th, but it’ll be held in Monterrey, Mexico, for the first time!
AEW Winter Is Coming debuted in 2020, and was initially All Elite Wrestling’s “big event” to end the year. Even with a PPV now in December, they still host it to further emphasise their commitment to regular TV specials.
AEW has previously only been to Mexico twice, for Arena Mexico’s Grand Slam: Mexico events, both of which were huge hits for the company. Clearly, Tony Khan wants to see if he can further expand AEW’s reach in the country, which may lead to a potential Mexico PPV in the future, not unlike what’s happening next year with Dynasty in Liverpool, England.
Just as important is the date of Winter is Coming, as it’s 10 days before World’s End, which will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That will give All Elite Wrestling plenty of time to build for the PPV, while also making the TV event feel special, not unlike what just happened with Grand Slam: France.
Tickets go on sale on AEW’s website on October 13th for Presale and on the 16th to the general public.
