Welcome to this week’s Wrestlepurists coverage of AEW Collision, because Saturday is alright for fighting! this week on Collision we have the in-ring debut of Deonna Purrazzo, the open challenge by Adam Copeland that continues, The Gates of Agony that will defend their ROH trio championships against The Righteous with the Murderhawk Lance Archer, FTR with Daniel Garcia will face The House of Black, and Hangman Adam Page will make an appearance.
ADAM COPELAND OPEN CHALLENGE: ADAM COPELAND DEFEATS LEE MORIARTY
It started with Copeland calling out his opponent after Shane Taylor came with Lee Moriarty, Shane Taylor hyped up the crowd about Moriarty and they showed a video package about Moriarty, who answered the open challenge. Copeland made a very competitive Lee tap out with the cross-face submission after Copeland overcomes a distraction by Shane Taylor who got hit by a big spear. After the match Copeland took a mic and said that he was not done with Christian Cage yet.
FTR WITH DANIEL GARCIA BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW WITH LEXY NAIR
FTR that this team with Garcia will be fine and that tonight is about revenge, that tonight is about a fight, and that they love this business, Garcia added that Collision is a place for him to grow and that The House of Black will get what is coming to them.
CHRIS JERICHO AND SAMMY GUEVARA BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW WITH LEXY NAIR
Jericho and Guevara challenged Ricky Starks and Big Bill to a street fight for the tag team championships at Battle of The Belts, he mentioned that they would seek and destroy.
ROH SIX MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIOSHIP MATCH: tHE GATES OF AGONY WITH PRINCE NANA DEFEATS THE RIGHTEOUS AND LANCE ARCHER WITH JAKE THE SNAKE ROBERTS
This was a very chaotic match with a ton of nearfalls, and just big men slapping man meat as Big E would say. Vincent got taken out by Liona with a big pounce, followed by a big slam for a near fall, Archer got taken out by Brian Cage, and after Kaun slammed Vincent, followed by the mountain on Vincent, The Gates of Agony retained their titles. After the match Prince Nana got on the mic, saying that he heard that Bullet Club Gold would be coming after the title, Nana mocked Jay White for not being able to beat Swerve, and Nana challenged them for this week’s Dynamite.
PRESTON VANCE BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW WITH LEXY NAIR
Lexy tried to interview Vance but Roderick Strong interrupted the interview to wish Vance luck during his match with Orange Cassidy., Vance asked why he was wishing him luck, and says that after he beats Cassidy, he will beat Strong.
DUSTIN RHODES DEFEATS WILLIE MACK
This was a fast-paced match, with both men hitting their big moves on each other, but Dustin got the win by hitting the Cross Rhodes followed by a spinning neckbreaker.
BULLET CLUB GOLD BACKSTAGE
Bullet Club Gold responded to Prince Nana, Jay White said they are getting too confident and that they accept the challenge, adding that the titles will go home with them.
DUSTIN RHODES BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW WITH RENEE PAQUETTE
Renee tried to Interview Dustin but The Patriarchy interrupted the interview, Cage mentioned that if he is friends with Copeland then that means that Dustin is his enemy. Dustin said he wants the TNT title and challenges Cage on next week’s Dynamite. Cage said that Dusty, Dustin his father was a legend in this business but that no one will call Dustin a legend, Dustin says he will destroy Cage next week.
HANGMAN ADAM PAGE DEFEATS JD DRAKE
There was nothing pretty about this match. these came and tried to destroy each other. After Drake missed a moonsault Page took advantage and hit his own moonsault on Drake followed by The Buckshot Lariat for the win.
DEONNA PURRAZZO DEFEATS RED VELVET
This was a good showing for what Purrazzo has in store for the rest of the women’s division, throughout this match she was constantly looking for the Fujiwara armbar, but Red Velvet was prepared and managed to counter Purrazzo. But after the Russian leg sweep combo in the armbar Red Velvet had no choice but to tap.
HOOK DEFEATS KEVIN MATHEWS
Hook gains more momentum before his big match against Samoa Joe for the AEW Championship. After a German suplex, an Exploder suplex, and a T-bone suplex. Hook then made Kevin tap out with his Red Rum submission.
HOUSE OF BLACK DEFEATS FTR & DANIEL GARCIA
This match started with a lot of back-and-forth tags and Cash hitting a big brain buster for 2 count. Eventually, Garcia and Black got tagged in the match, Garcia knocked Black outside, and Brody got into the ring but also got knocked outside by Garcia. Both Cash and Dax try to knock down Brody with Lariats, which results in a 2 count. The match continued with House of Black with the advantage by utilizing quick tags to each other. Dax recovered and was able to get a hot tag to Garcia and Garcia managed to take out everyone, resulting in a brainbuster for another 2 count. During the last stretch of this match, both teams knocked each other out. Gracia ended up tagging Dax, and Dax hit a top rope bulldog for another near fall. Black fought his way back and tried to get a submission win but Dax got to the ropes. Cash got taken out by Brody King through a splash against the barricade, Black took out Garcia, and Buddy got tagged and hit a big powerbomb for another near fall. Dax fought back with a piledriver but black kicked Dax followed by a curb stomped by Buddy and a pin for the win. After the match House of Black attacked Matt Menard, but Garcia and FTR chased them away with steel chairs.
