AEW Grand Slam: France Reportedly Expected To Be A Sellout

AEW reportedly expect Grand Slam: France to have a sold-out crowd on October 6.

Over the next few months, All Elite Wrestling have a busy schedule. In in just over a week, All Out with emanate from Chicago, while WrestleDream is three weeks after that. However, sandwiched between them is the debut of AEW Grand Slam: France in Paris. The Grand Slam events have become highlights for AEW TV, and each one further expands their global reach. Now, it’s believed the company expect their first outing in France to be sold out.

According to an update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those within AEW expect Grand Slasm France to be a sellout by showtime, and for the France crowd to be very loud.

“The hope is that will be a hot crowd since Paris crowds for UFC and WWE are very hot. They have 5,802 tickets out for the Adidas Arena which can hold 6,932 at capacity. Those internally are expecting this one to be sold out. It’s possible they could have done really well at the bigger Acorn Arena for a first show in the market, but they took the conservative route and booked the smaller arena.”

International crowds are infamous for being loud and unique with their chants, which AEW knows all about when it did traveled to the UK for both Dynamite and Collision in Glasgow before heading to London for All In. Plus, it’s been announced that the Dynasty pay-per-view will be headed to Liverpool next year, thus banking on the international audiences even more.

As for the potential of doing a bigger arena first, it’s possible AEW head Tony Khan was a bit gun-shy after what happened with the first Grand Slam: Australia event, where he booked a much bigger arena for that show, and then switched to a smaller venue after ticket sales made it clear he wouldn’t fill up that building. As such, time will tell if France becomes a place where AEW visits annually.
