There’s still a possibility that World Wonder Ring STARDOM could be involved at the Scotiabank Arena on June 25th.

With AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door rapidly approaching, one of the main questions fans have been looking for an answer to is the possibility of STARDOM involvement at the show. Japan’s top joshi promotion is also owned by Bushiroad, making it NJPW’s sister promotion, although they were absent from the inaugural event entirely, and thus far there have been no indications of that changing this year.

Hope may not be lost, however, as Fightful Select are now reporting that AEW have held conversations with STARDOM about the potential for them to be involved in the crossover PPV event, with current AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm mentioned as a potential opponent for STARDOM talent to face should they could to an agreement.

“Fightful Select has learned that Stardom and All Elite Wrestling have had conversations about the possibility
of integrating Stardom talent into the highly anticipated Forbidden Door show. Those that we’ve spoken to from both sides indicated there have been some hurdles, but specifcally Toni Storm was mentioned as a name for a Stardom talent to face.”

Interestingly, STARDOM are set to hold their own PPV event, STARDOM SUNSHINE 2023, on June 25th, and thus logistically, any involvement in Forbidden Door would likely require a change to their card, with the majority of talent already being booked for that weekend.

The report notes, however, that this issue is something that has been raised in the discussions, with AEW sources indicating to Fightful that its something they’re hoping to work out in order to pull it off.

Last year’s Forbidden Door event saw then-AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa face off against AEW’s own Toni Storm, although Fightful added that conversations were had about possible STARDOM involvement that ultimately didn’t come to fruition.

Thus far, two matches have been announced for this year’s event, with Kenny Omega set to defend the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship against Will Ospreay in a rematch of their Wrestle Kingdom 17 bout, whilst Kazuchika Okada will take on Bryan Danielson in a dream match for the ages.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the potential for STARDOM to be involved in this year’s Forbidden Door event as soon as we hear more.
