AEW Reportedly Lost $30 Million On Fight Forever Video Game

AEW Fight Forever was reportedly a costly endeavour for the company.
During the early years of All Elite Wrestling, the promotion did everything it could to prove it was on the level of its competitor in WWE, which included making several video games. The first few were mobile titles, merely meant to scratch the itch of gamers, but their main release was AEW Fight Forever, which was meant to invoke the feeling of classic wrestling game titles past, including WWF No Mercy. However, the title was fraught with issues behind the scenes, including delays and missed deadlines. As a result, the game didn’t feel as fleshed out as fans were hoping by the time it came out, and it now seems the company suffered a strong financial loss in the end.
According to Mike Straw Media, due to the delays and lower-than-expected sales, the game cost AEW around $30 million. Due to this, Mike Straw further noted that, while All Elite Wrestling isn’t opposed to doing more gaming titles, it would be down the line as opposed to being in their immediate plans.
While many liked the Arcade-style gameplay that Fight Forever offered, its Road To Elite mode was fairly repetitive and so there was little for fans to routinely come back to. Still, many fans of the promotion are hoping they attempt to produce another video game in the future.
