A return to mixed martial arts could reportedly be on the cards for Matt Riddle.

This past Saturday, former WWE United States Champion Matt Riddle announced that he was no longer with the company, bringing an end to his five-year tenure with WWE. As a result, many are now anticipating the 37-year-old’s next move, and it appears as we may now know one potential option on the table.

Speaking on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Riddle currently has “at least” one offer from a major MMA promotion to bring him back to the sport.

“I do know that (Matt) Riddle has got at least one major MMA promotion, if not more, that are interested in bringing him back to MMA.”

-Dave Meltzer

Riddle’s last MMA bout came in February 2014, with his record currently standing at 8-3 (2). As of writing, it’s unclear as to which promotion(s) in question are interested in signing Riddle, although a return to UFC is assumed to be unlikely, with company President Dana White having previously labelled Riddle a “moron”.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Matt Riddle as soon as we hear more.
