Austin Creed & Kenny Omega Tease Discussing The New Day’s WWE Exit
Austin Creed and Kenny Omega reunited online for a game ranking discussion and more.
The wrestling world is far more connected than certain fans realise or want to admit. Case in point, Kenny Omega and Austin Creed have been linked for years through their shared love of video games, regularly coming together for special events, including the memorable E3 appearance where all three members of The New Day faced Omega and The Young Bucks.
The pair have continued to showcase their passion for gaming through ranking discussions with Giant Bomb, with the duo recently returning for a special “Christmas in July” feature where they revealed their top games of 2025 so far. However, it was a particular part of their conversation that caught the attention of wrestling fans.
The pair also discussed the situation surrounding Creed, formerly known as Xavier Woods, and his longtime tag team partner and close friend Kofi Kingston, who have both departed WWE. Many fans expect the duo to eventually make their way to AEW, especially with their 90-day non-compete clauses potentially expiring soon after requesting their releases earlier this year. However, when Kenny Omega attempted to ask about a possible arrival in All Elite Wrestling, Creed quickly shut down the discussion due to “legal reasons.”
Creed and Kofi’s departure from WWE reportedly came after the pair were asked to restructure their contracts despite re-signing with the company in 2025, with the proposed terms resulting in significantly reduced pay. The duo did not agree to the changes and ultimately chose to depart the company by mutual consent.
Many fans are eager to see them join AEW, where they could finally have the long-awaited dream match against Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks. With the timing of their departures, that potential showdown could even become a possibility for AEW All In: London or shortly afterwards.
Legally, the former New Day members cannot sign with another promotion until their 90-day non-compete clauses expire, which is why many fans are eagerly awaiting any indication of what their next move could be.
For Omega, his next challenge will be his first defence of the AEW World Championship, as he takes on TNT Champion Kevin Knight at the inaugural AEW Redemption pay-per-view on July 26 in Montreal. AEW President Tony Khan recently discussed his excitement for the bout, which you can read about here.
