Blake Monroe: Asuka Is One Of The Best In The World, I’d Love To Wrestle Her

Blake Monroe has high praise for Asuka.
At May 9’s Backlash, when Asuka hugged her rival IYO SKY, many thought she was signalling her retirement from the ring. Since then, members of the locker room have shared old photos with ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’, and she’s been the topic of conversation for many wanting to admire what she’s done in her career. Now, Blake Monroe has expressed praise for Asuka.
In an interview with Vicente Beltran, Monroe said she’d love to wrestle Asuka, calling her one of the best in the world.
“Asuka, to me, is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world. I remember watching her after she won the Rumble wrestling Charlotte Flair and thinking, ‘Wow, she’s something special.’ And I feel like she came to WWE and she elevated the NXT women’s locker room. She elevated the main roster locker room, too. I don’t know where her heart is, what her decision is, but I would love to wrestle her one day. So for me, I’m kind of heartbroken if this is it, but I also respect her and what a career she’s had. She’s amazing.”

When it comes to what’s next for Asuka, the word immediately following Backlash was that the former WWE Women’s Champion was ‘semi-retired’. Later reports from around the time of last week’s RAW would add that the star is believed to be heading back to Japan for a family matter, you can read more on that here.
In terms of Blake Monroe’s future, the Brit is preparing for her main roster debut having been in NXT for just under 12 months. In that time, she had a 52-day reign as Women’s North American Champion, and a memorable feud with Tatum Paxley. With her Friday Night SmackDown debut seemingly around the corner, it seems she’ll be on the blue brand by the end of the month. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on both Blake Monroe and Asuka as soon as we hear more.
