Since Triple H’s return to WWE as the Head of Talent Relations and Head of Creative, numerous former stars have made their return to the company, including Karrion Kross, Dakota Kai, Dexter Lumis, and Johnny Gargano. It appears as though WWE aren’t yet finished on the recruitment front however, as Fightful Select are now reporting that another former star has been discussed for a potential return.
The report reveals that former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman has been discussed as one name that could potentially return to the company. Strowman shockingly recieved his release on June 2nd, 2021, and has only wrestled eight matches, half of which being for the Control Your Narrative brand.
“Fightful Select has learned that among names pitched or discussed for a WWE return include Braun Strowman.”
-Braun Strowman
Prior to his release, Strowman was on a seven figure, multi-year deal with the company, a contract agreed in 2019 that likely lead to Strowman being one of the names cut during the “budget cuts” phase of regular mass releases.
Fightful noted that Strowman played “hardball” during the negotiations over said contract, with the former Wyatt Family member said to have been in the final few months of his current deal during the discussions.
Sources within WWE told Fightful that Strowman looks “ring-ready” physically, stating that he currently looks better than ever. As of writing, nothing is known regarding how far into discussions the two sides are, nor if any specific creative pitches have been made.
People of influence within WWE would not confirm when asked by Fightful, but also abstained from denying the report. Time will tell as to whether the “Monster Amongst Men” makes his return to WWE.
