Buddy Matthews Teases Possible Return At AEW Redemption

Buddy Matthews could possibly be hinting at an imminent return to AEW.

Since suffering a shattered ankle during his match with Kazuchika Okada at the original AEW Grand Slam: Australia event last year, Buddy Matthews has been sidelined from in-ring competition. The injury halted what had been a strong singles run for the AEW star, who has been a member of the company’s roster since 2022 as part of the House of Black before later joining the Hounds of Hell alongside Brody King and Julia Hart. Now, however, the 37-year-old appears to be teasing that his return may be drawing closer.

Taking to Instagram, Matthews alluded to Redemption in a post about finding his way.

Whether Matthews returns at AEW Redemption remains to be seen, but his latest tease suggests a comeback may not be far away. If he does reappear tonight, he could have a vested interest in the AEW International Championship match between Kyle Fletcher and Bandido, particularly given Bandido has been teaming with Matthews’ former stablemate Brody King for well over a year.

Of course, there has been no official word on Matthews’ status ahead of Redemption, but whenever he does return, his arrival is certain to shake things up.
