Despite WrestleMania 39 being just days away, one NXT Superstar already has his eyes set on WrestleMania 40. Carmelo Hayes is set to challenge Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship in the main event of NXT Stand & Deliver on April 1st, and whilst he undoubtedly has his sights firmly set on capturing the gold, it also appears as though a major main roster clash is high up on his list of goals.
During a recent appearance on the Under The Ring podcast, Hayes was asked who he’d like to face at WrestleMania 40 in 2024, with the NXT star naming the inaugural NXT Champion Seth Rollins as his first choice.
“Seth Rollins. I feel like if there’s anybody that I find as similar to me or my style that I would mesh well with in the ring, it’d be Seth Rollins.”
-Carmelo Hayes
Whilst it may be slightly early to begin fantasy booking the WrestleMania 40 card set to take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the 39th installment of WWE’s biggest event of the year is right around the corner, with the show set to be main evented by the mammoth Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
As for Hayes, he’ll look to finally add his name to the long list of NXT Champions on a show that will also see Roxanne Perez defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Zoey Stark, Gigi Dolin, Indi Hartwell, Lyra Valkyria, and Tiffany Stratton, whilst Dragon Lee is set to make his WWE debut in the NXT North American Championship ladder match.
