Cody Rhodes says facing CM Punk is a dream match for him in WWE.

On the RAW after WrestleMania, CM Punk came face to face with Cody Rhodes, as WWE continue to tease a possible future match between two of their biggest stars. With the ‘Second City Saint’ now without a title, Rhodes may it clear that Punk could ‘just say when’ with regard to a title shot, and the Undisputed WWE Champion has now addressed the possibility of facing the Chicagoan in future.

Appearing on ESPN’s TikTok, Cody Rhodes said CM Punk is a dream match for him, though he’s not sure if it will ever happen.

“A dream match that I’d like to be a part of is probably myself versus CM Punk. The likelihood of it happening, who knows? Wrestling has gotten more… it’s difficult, you know? We’re collaborators these days, so it’s difficult. I don’t know if he’d want that and I don’t even know if I’d want it. But I know it just would be really great and be very good for wrestling.”

While the pair were both in AEW, their time with the company only overlapped by around six months, with Punk joining All Elite Wrestling in August 2021 and Rhodes opting to leave the company to pursue a move back to WWE in February 2022. Since CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series 2023, many fans have been keeping their fingers crossed that they will finally meet in the ring for the first time since 2008.

Both men walked into WrestleMania 42 as world champions, although only Rhodes emerged with his title in tact. Whether CM Punk opts to chase the Undisputed WWE Championship after his recent interaction with Cody remains to be seen.
