With WrestleMania 39 now just less than a week away, the mammoth main event clash between the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and this year’s Royal Rumble Winner Cody Rhodes is right around the corner. The former AEW EVP made his return from injury during the aforementioned Royal Rumble earlier this year and now finds himself just one match away from achieving his dream.
Whilst the ‘American Nightmare’ already gets more pyro during his entrance than any other WWE Superstars, he recently revealed to Amy Nemmity of WrestleJoy that he plans on having a “record-setting” amount of pyro during his WrestleMania 39 entrance, although he also stated that he’s never once requested pyro himself, even during his time as an AEW EVP.
“Oh my gosh. I would have to say, you want to go with the latter, go with the greatest. At this point, I’m gonna be honest, I never asked anybody for pyro. Even in AEW when I was running things, I never asked anybody for pyro, and then it became like a running gag, the amount of pyro, and now it’s not even that, it’s just part of the experience. It’s like the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. You know, this happens at this time and they legit blow up the sky. I think with a WrestleMania on the west coast, in Hollywood, it’s the biggest display that’s ever been done involving a ring. I don’t think greatest can even cover it. I really don’t. I think you’re looking at a record-setting amount of pyro.”-Cody Rhodes
Cody is set to take on Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline during tonight’s Raw, however despite being just a week away from WrestleMania 39, Rhodes and his opponent Roman Reigns have yet to get physical, with many fans eager to see Rhodes finally put an end to the ‘Head of the Table”s history reign.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further update on any WrestleMania 39 plans as soon as we hear more.
