It’s been reported that AEW have been in contact with Kota Ibushi with the feeling he will have some participation on AEW’s Blood and Guts show.

The feud between The Elite and Blackpool Combat Club has been raging on for some months now, with marquee battles such as the Anarchy In The Arena match just part of the action fans have been treated too. However, with the four members of the Combat Club being aided by Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita, The Elite have often found themselves in need of more support.

The next clash between the respective sides has been set, with the company recently announcing Blood and Guts for July 19. Though, both the BCC and Elite have four confirmed members and are in need of a fifth to complete their lineups. So, fans have already started to speculate that this could be the place where AEW bring in Kota Ibushi to back up Kenny Omega and The Elite.

To provide an update on this, Fightful Select have revealed that conversations have taken place between AEW and Kota Ibushi regarding the event, with some of the company’s talent already under the impression that the Japanese star will have a role to play on July 19.

“Fightful has confirmed that conversations have taken place between international star Kota Ibushi and All Elite Wrestling. Most of the talent we spoke to this week are of the belief that he would be joining the company in some capacity, specifically for the upcoming Blood & Guts show.”

To further fuel the report, Fightful state that Ibushi’s management have reduced his media appearances as of late, with one source close to Kota suggesting that he’s planning on working with AEW on the show.

Some may worry that AEW’s connection with New Japan Pro Wrestling may dampen the chances of Ibushi working with Tony Khan’s company, however, Kota has since claimed that those issues have since been resolved.

Aside from a GCW match over WrestleMania weekend, the 41-year-old has been predominantly out of action since October 2021, with many wondering when and where he will pop up again.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kota Ibushi and his participation on AEW’s July 19 Blood and Guts show as we hear more.
