Dragon Lee has officially signed a main roster WWE contract, per a new report.
NXT has had a lot of top-quality wrestlers pass through its doors in the past few years, and Dragon Lee is certainly among the best to have been signed to the developmental show. While he has never won any championships on Tuesday night, some people would suggest that the Mexican is already on the level of a main roster star, and, based on what we’ve seen recently, it seems as if WWE higher-ups feel the same way.
On September 25, Dragon Lee competed in his first ever match on Raw, losing to Dominik Mysterio in a bout for the North American Title. Since then, he’s had three more main roster outings, all occurring on SmackDown in October. Now, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer, it’s been suggested that Dragon Lee is set for more appearances on the red and blue brands, having signed a main roster contract last week.
“Dragon Lee signed his new main roster deal last week. Basically it made it worth it to him of having signed the NXT deal rather than the offered AEW deal.”
-Dave Meltzer
Dragon Lee’s main roster appearances have so far centred around a feud with Austin Theory. He has already recorded a victory over the former United States Champion in singles competition, and, given that the scores were evened up through a tag match, Lee will likely conclude this rivalry in the near future and then move on to big things on SmackDown.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Dragon Lee and his main roster future as we hear more.
