The former WWE Champion’s future remains uncertain.

Following Drew Mclntyre’s recent heel turn ahead of tonight’s Survivor Series, many fans have been speculating that the 38-year-old may have agreed to terms on a new WWE contract, with his current deal having previously been reported to be up right after WrestleMania 40.

PWInsider are now reporting that despite McIntyre’s renewed focus, the two sides are yet to engage in deep discussions, with WWE maintaining that there is still considerable time to negotiate.

“We are told that currently the two sides haven’t entered into deep discussions about a new deal. WWE’s stance has been that there is a lot of time to still negotiate.”

Additionally, PWInsider also noted that they’d recently heard that McIntyre has indicated to those close to him that he’s more than willing to allow his contract to run down and take a break for his family as they recently suffered the loss of his wife’s sister.

Furthermore, the report added that McIntyre has has long stated to those he’s friends with that he’d like the chance to spend some extended time back in Scotland, with it having been many years since he’s had the chance to have an extended stay in his home nation since moving to the United States full-time.

Whilst it appears currently that McIntyre is ready to let family come first over a new contract if there has to be a choice of one or the other, five months remain until a decision must be made before he becomes a free agent, and thus time remains for the two sides to come to an agreement.

Finally, PWInsider noted that there have been no signs of any negative issues between McIntyre and WWE management, and so despite an agreement yet to have been reached, positive conversations are likely to continue.

McIntyre is set to team with The Judgement Day in WarGames at tonight’s Survivor Series as they take on the team of Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and a returning Randy Orton.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Drew Mclntyre’s WWE contract negotiations as soon as we hear more.
