At AAA Triplemania Regia in December of last year, Kenny Omega was set to defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo in what would’ve likely been an incredible match between two of the world’s best, however, Omega ultimately pulled out due to injury, thus vacating the title. Vikingo went on to win the AAA Mega Championship that night, defeating Bandido, Bobby Fish, Jay Lethal, and Samuray del Sol in a five-way for the vacant gold.
Now that Omega has returned from injury and Vikingo has officially received his US Visa, the dream match that the world missed out on last year is now a possibility once again. Speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Vikingo revealed that he’s looking forward to making it happen.
“The third time’s the charm. It’s now been two occasions that Kenny Omega and I were gonna wrestle, but for this and that, it wasn’t able to happen, but now I have the Visa. So if he doesn’t come (to Mexico), then I will go look for him. Expect some big surprises. Why not have ‘El Gran Jinete’ go and look for him in his own house? Anything can happen. My home, AAA, is always giving surprises. I don’t know, maybe in the future, I will go to his house, or him in ours, or somewhere in the middle. Anything can happen,”

Vikingo recently made his GCW debut at GCW Amerikaz Most Wanted on December 16th, and is also announced for PWG’s upcoming Battle of Los Angeles tournament.
Omega meanwhile is currently in the midst of a best-of-seven series between The Elite and Death Triangle, although he will make his return to NJPW in January at Wrestle Kingdom 17, where he’ll take on Will Ospreay. As of writing, it’s unclear as to whether Omega will be making a return to AAA, however with Vikingo now in the US, a match between the pair is now more likely than ever.
