EVIL is currently listed on WWE’s miscellaneous roster internally.

On Friday, April 24, PWInsider revealed that former IWGP Heavyweight Championship holder EVIL had officially signed with WWE, bringing an end to months of speculation following his departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling in January.

However, despite signing with WWE, PWInsider is now reporting that EVIL has yet to be assigned to any of the company’s brands and is currently listed internally under the “Misc.” roster.

“PWInsider.com is told that former IWGP Champion EVIL has not been officially assigned to any WWE brand and is listed internally on the company’s “Misc.” roster, which is also where legends and injured talents reside internally. WWE has not officially acknowledged he has been signed by the company.”

Last week’s episode of NXT saw Tony D’Angelo handed a box bearing the Japanese kanji for “war”, leading to speculation that the mystery sender could be EVIL. While it remains unclear where the angle is heading, many also believe the sender could be Ulka Sasaki of Pro Wrestling Noah, who is currently on excursion in NXT.

Regardless of the brand that EVIL lands on, PWInsider’s initial report noted that Japanese sources expect the former House of Torture leader not to retain his previous name, and it therefore remains to be seen how WWE will choose to utilise the ‘King of Darkness’.
