Finn Bálor On His SummerSlam 2016 Injury: I Don’t Like Seeing It

Finn Bálor reveals he scrolls away from clips of his injury at WWE SummerSlam 2016.

In the first round WWE’s 2016 brand split, Finn Bálor was drafted from NXT to RAW, giving him huge momentum for his main roster debut. With the company looking to capitalise, the Irishman became the first Universal Champion by defeating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, although his reign was unfortunately cut short when a shoulder injury suffered in the match led to him vacating the title just a day later. Now, Bálor had discussed the moment he crashed into the barricade.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Bálor opened up about having never rewatched the moment he got injured.

“I get tagged in tweets daily of that spot, and I’ll scroll away before I hit the wall. I don’t like seeing it. It’s just like, why dwell on the past? You should be looking forward, you can’t change the past, it happened. So what?”

Thus far, Bálor’s Universal Championship win almost a decade ago remains his only world title success in WWE, although he’s still one of the company’s most recognisable names having been commonplace on the main roster since 2016. Plus, he’s certainly had his fair share of success, being one of 19 men to become a Grand Slam Champion under the revised format.

With many still hoping to see him reach the mountaintop again, the Irishman re-entered the main event when he confronted then World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk earlier this year. Although he didn’t win the title, he’s now reflected on what it was to work with the Chicago-native, including how it compared to the bad rep the former champion sometimes gets. You can read more on his comments here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Finn Bálor as soon as we hear more.
