It appears that Giulia’s reign with the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship could be coming to an end sooner than originally anticipated.

Giulia is finishing up with Stardom in March and is expected to sign with WWE later in the year. She’s held the Strong Women’s Championship since July 5, 2023, most recently defending it against Trish Adora at NJPW’s Battle In The Valley event earlier in January. There was a belief that she would hold the title for long enough to drop it in Chicago at Windy City Riot on April 12, but according to the Wrestling Observer‘s Dave Meltzer, that no longer seems to be the case.

“Giulia is now off the show (NJPW Windy City Riot on April 12). Her contract expires in March and they originally wanted her to work here and likely lose the New Japan Strong women’s title, but she told Bushiroad she was now finishing in March when her deal is up. As noted before, as things stand right now, she is going to study English and not go to WWE for a while. So she’s going to have to lose the title before Chicago.”

Who Giulia will face for the title next is unclear, though it is increasingly likely that her next defense will be her last.

As always, we’ll aim to provide updates on Giulia’s Bushiroad status and potential WWE move as we get them.
