Giulia’s decision to have surgery was reportedly supported by WWE.
Last week, on Dream Star Fighting Marigold’s debut show, Giulia teamed with Utami Hayashishita to take on Sareee and Bozilla. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old suffered a fractured wrist during the contest, and has been seen wearing a cast in the days following the event, with more now coming out regarding the surgery the former NJPW Strong Women’s Champion has had to heal the injury as soon as she can.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it’s believed that Giulia’s wrist surgery was something that WWE wanted her to undergo, as speculation remains over her potential debut for the company at NXT Heatwave on July 7th.
“WWE wanted her (Giulia) to undergo the surgery so she’s doing that. I don’t know what that means. I know before the surgery she was still talking about doing the July 13th date at Sumo Hall against Sareee. She really wanted to do that match and she’s been very hands-on with Marigold,”

The surgery took place this morning, and, as per the official Marigold X account, the procedure was thankfully a success.
Whilst a date for her debut for WWE isn’t yet official, Giulia aims to be medically cleared to compete by July 13th, where she is scheduled to step into the ring against Sareee at Marigold Summer Destiny.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Giulia’s recent surgery as soon as we hear more, and we wish her all the best in her recovery.
