It was recently reported that Io Shirai would most likely be leaving WWE soon, with her most likely returning to Japan when the time comes.
Her future may be up in the air but her past in WWE is not to be questioned. She’s a former NXT Women’s Champion and has had one of the best runs with the title in company history. Though, she hasn’t been seen in NXT since the ‘Stand And Deliver’ event in April.
She is expected to recover from her injury very soon, however, Dave Meltzer on the most recent Wrestling Observer Radio has reiterated that Io Shirai is expected to be leaving WWE soon.
“Io Shirai’s pretty much got her foot out of the door. Pretty much gone.”

Io was rumoured to be coming to WWE’s main roster and many recognise that her run in the company had much more potential than we saw. But, it makes sense that Shirai has chosen to move back home and be closer to her loved ones if reports are true about her desire to return there.
