John Cena’s WWE Contract Reportedly Calls For More Appearances

John Cena will reportedly be making numerous WWE appearances under his current contract.
Last night, it was noticed that the Benchmark International Arena was promoting an appearance by John Cena at this weekend’s Backlash Premium Live Event. Upon seeing the advertisement, many fans raised their eyebrows at the possibility of 17-time champion returning to our screens just weeks after filling the role of host at WrestleMania 42. However, it now appears we can expect to see Cena pop up a number of times moving forward.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it’s believed John Cena’s contract calls for a number of future appearances, including Backlash this weekend.
“The situation there is that he’s on Backlash. I’m not sure what the role will be because he said he’s never gonna wrestle again. They signed him to a contract which called for a number of appearances, so this is one of those appearances. His deal called for these things. I mean, to me it’s kinda weird because he just did WrestleMania and it was supposed to be something special. And here we are a couple of weeks after WrestleMania and he’s doing it again. So it feels like for a big guest like that coming back so quick and having him again, kinda seems like why would you do it? But I think the mentality is that John Cena is important and getting him on TV is important. He’s signed for a number of dates, so that’s one of them. That’s it.”

Earlier today, Cena took to social media to confirm his upcoming appearance at Backlash. The star said after ‘months of planning’, he’s set to break history-making news on the show. For now, what Cena will announce during his third since retiring at the hands of ‘The Ring General’ GUNTHER remains to be seen.
At the show, The Miz and Kit Wilson are set to take on Danhausen and a mystery partner. While Cena is now retired from the ring and therefore extremely unlikely to fill that spot, his segment with all three men at WrestleMania leaves the door open for him to interact with them once more in Tampa.
