AJ Styles has addressed WWE’s latest round of talent cuts.

On April 24, WWE released a number of stars from across both the main roster and WWE NXT, including Kairi Sane, The Motor City Machine Guns, and Aleister Black, with previous waves of releases often attributed to budget cuts as the driving force behind such decisions, and one WWE Hall of Famer has now shared his thoughts on the latest departures.

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles shared his thoughts on the recent WWE departures and noted that he is not clear on the company’s thought process behind the decisions.

“I’m sure it has to come down to space and time and money. It’s not anything like it used to be. Although I know that Vince [McMahon] used to do this, too. I don’t know. I have no idea. And I don’t think I want to know. I don’t think I want to know the reason why some of these superstars were let go. I mean, the Motor City Machine Guns, I freaking love those guys.”

Whilst the nature of several of the recent WWE departures was not specified in various reports, Chris Sabin recently took to X to confirm that both he and his tag team partner Alex Shelley were released by the company.

Elsewhere during the podcast, AJ Styles revealed that Kairi Sane’s release in particular caught him off guard. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the recent wave of WWE departures as soon as we hear more.
