Kit Wilson Opens Up On Not Being In 2026 WWE Royal Rumble

Kit Wilson says he once thought a Royal Rumble appearance was going to happen.
Back in January, Kit Wilson gained major traction online after debuting a catchy new theme song to add to his presentation as a singles wrestler. The music made him popular among a subsection of fans, including getting a huge reaction when SmackDown emanated from London later that month, and many assumed his momentum would lead him to a big moment in the Royal Rumble. However, the Brit was unfortunately omitted from the event, and he’s now reflected on missing out on the Rumble match.
Speaking with Cody Rhodes on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Kit said he once thought an appearance in the Royal Rumble was a sure thing.
“I do think that was, again we talk about these checkpoints along the career, I don’t like to go too behind the curtain, but there was a situation where I thought maybe it was a sure thing. And then something happened and then I wasn’t. So that day, I was kind of struggling with those emotions, which is okay because I’m not toxic. However, I do value your opinion, I do value a lot of other people’s opinions, AJ [Styles] talked to me that day as well. So the next day, I just came in, smile on my face. I always try to do but I made an extra effort on the day of the Rumble, and I just worked in every which way I could possible. Not to put myself over, but I was doing the interviews, I put myself to use because what else was I gonna do?”

Kit has been a regular feature on SmackDown of late, working with The Miz in a feud with Danhausen. This weekend, Wilson will team with ‘The A-Lister’ to take on the ‘Very Nice, Very Evil’ one and a mystery partner. As yet, there’s been no indication as to who could team with Danhausen at Backlash, though the surprise is one of the things fans are most intrigued with at the upcoming PLE.
As for Cody Rhodes, ‘The American Nightmare’ looks set for a feud with GUNTHER after ‘The Ring General’ attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion this past week on SmackDown. While the match hasn’t yet been added to Backlash, it seems a clash between them is just a matter of time.
However, GUNTHER’s post-WrestleMania 42 plans reportedly almost looked very different. You can find out who he was originally set to feud with here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kit Wilson as soon as we hear more.
