KJ Orso Reportedly Scheduled To Be Part Of WWE Tryout In Minnesota

KJ Orso is set to be at the latest WWE Tryout in Minnesota.

With SummerSlam set to take place at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 1 and 2, WWE is preparing to hold another tryout as the company continues searching for the next wave of independent talent. Among the several names invited to attend, a former All Elite Wrestling talent has also received an opportunity to impress WWE officials.

According to Fightful Select, KJ Orso, formerly known as Fuego del Sol during his time in AEW, has been invited to attend the WWE Tryout in Minnesota. It remains unclear why Orso chose not to publicly announce the opportunity himself.

“Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that KJ Orso is in Minnesota and is among the talent planned for a WWE tryout this week. No reason was given as to why he didn’t announce the tryout.”

Since removing the mask and moving away from the Fuego del Sol character, Orso has emerged as a standout on the independent scene. His run in GCW has seen him involved in numerous feuds while continuing to raise his stock by showcasing different sides of his personality and ability that many fans had not seen during his masked run.

The last time Orso appeared on WWE programming was in 2020, when he was defeated by Erick Rowan in a squash match. Despite maintaining positive relationships with AEW and Ring of Honor, Orso has not appeared for either company under his new KJ Orso persona since moving away from the Fuego del Sol character and removing the mask.

Orso will join a number of independent talents, including Josh Bishop, J-Rod, Brooke Havok, Monica Monroe, and others, who will look to take the next step in their careers should they impress at the tryout this weekend.
