Kris Statlander gave some big praise to AEW’s women’s division, including noting one person who deserves more credit.

During the early days of All Elite Wrestling many fans would’ve pointed to the women’s division as the weakest link of its brand. It often didn’t get enough time on TV, leading to the on-screen matches sometimes being hit or miss, and, as such, the division could often feel stagnant in comparison to the men’s. However, thanks to key arrivals and returns, the division is now stacked with talent that are frequently given the spotlight to shine. Now, Kris Statlander has addressed the progression of the promotion’s women’s division.

Speaking to 98 Rock, Statlander stressed how strong she feels the division is.

“We have so many women that are so talented and also are willing to put in the work day after day. Nobody slacks off. Nobody wants to take it easy. Nobody wants to take a day off. They all want to just put their best foot forward no matter what they’re doing. And I really hope that people can see that when we’re on TV or when we’re performing in front of them. I hope they know we all are doing our absolute best no matter what to live up to those expectations of what a women’s division could be.”

When one looks at the talent that AEW has in its women’s division right now, you can see what Statlander means. Aside from her, there’s Mercedes Mone, Willow Nightingale, Thekla, Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter, Alex Windsor, Thunder Rosa, Mina Shirakawa, Athena, Megan Bayne, Lena Kross, and so much more. On this, Statlander also noted that some of the women deserve even more credit for what they’ve done, with the former TBS Champion believing one woman in particular needs more flowers.

“I feel like there’s a lot of women that still are kind of right on the edge of about to get their moment, and they deserve it more than anyone. Honestly, I would say as much as I have gone against her, Skye Blue is one of them.”

Skye Blue has been in AEW for years, but ever since joining Julia Hart as a “Sister of Sin,” and now as part of the Triangle of Madness faction, she’s grown into her own on many levels, including doing great matches outside of All Elite Wrestling that many are praising.

Tonight, the women’s division will be on full display once more, as Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida, and Persephone will all challenge Maya World for the TBS Championship in a four-way match. Plus, in just 11 days, Mercedes Moné will challenge Willow Nightingale for the AEW Women’s World Championship in one of All In’s most anticipated matches.
