Kyle Fletcher has taken time to reflect on his TNT Championship match with Tommaso Ciampa.

When Ciampa debuted in AEW, he went right after Mark Briscoe, winning the TNT Championship from him in his first official match. From there, “The Psycho Killer” went on a tear of matches, culminating in him facing Kyle Fletcher on the February 11th edition of Dynamite. That night, the Australian reclaimed the title for the second time in his career, with most fans left impressed by the performance of both men in Ontario, California.

In a chat with Denise Salcado, Kyle reflected on the match and how it became such a spectacle.

“I think that was kind of my first… I don’t want to say my first interaction with, but someone coming fresh off being released from WWE, coming into AEW and me being not their first match, but one of the first people that they got to work with. I hadn’t developed a personal relationship with him yet. I only met him for the first time a few weeks before. You go into it and you’re like, ‘I don’t know what this process is gonna be like. I don’t know what this person is gonna be like.’ But, I have only great things to say. I had an absolute blast working with him. He brought out the best in me and I hope I brought out the best in him, and that’s all you can ask for. I think externally, backstage, all that stuff, you don’t have to get along with people. You don’t have to be friends with people. It’s the product, the end result that matters. I had a great time interacting with him, but I can look at that product and I’m removed from it now, I can say I’m very proud of it. For me, having matches like that just makes me excited to do it again because that chemistry was from the first time of us ever interacting. Since then, we’ve had many a conversation, many an interactions. So I just think that chemistry will grow and fester over time. I just can’t wait to do it again.”

Although he came out on top, Fletcher would unfortunately have to vacate the TNT Championship due to injury back in April. Still, once able to return to the ring, he’d go on to win the International Title from his former friend Konosuke Takeshita on the “Beach Break” edition of Dynamite.

As of writing, whether the company are planning to have Ciampa face Fletcher again in the near future remains to be seen, although the pair’s chemistry was there for all to see during their initial encounter. Speaking of in-ring chemistry, “The Protostar” recently listed AEW talent he loves to share the ring with. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for both Kyle Fletcher and Tommaso Ciampa as soon as we hear more.
