LA Knight Discusses Eliminating Brock Lesnar From The Royal Rumble

LA Knight has indicated that WWE moved away from plans for a feud with Brock Lesnar.
Ahead of the 2026 Royal Rumble, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE had been planning to build toward a feud between LA Knight and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. During the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Knight eliminated Lesnar with assistance from Cody Rhodes, although it would ultimately be Oba Femi who faced ‘The Beast’ in Las Vegas that April.
Appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, LA Knight briefly touched on eliminating Brock Lesnar from the 2026 Royal Rumble, noting that there is a story to tell, but that now is not the right time to tell it.
“I’ll tell that story someday, but it feels too new and fresh to me. But I’ll just say things went differently than they were supposed to.”

Following a positive reception from the WWE Universe to their interactions in the 2026 Royal Rumble match, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi instead faced off in singles competition at WrestleMania 42, with Femi scoring a shocking victory before Lesnar appeared to retire from in-ring action.
The retirement would turn out to be a ruse however, as Brock Lesnar would return to WWE Raw last month to set up a rematch with Oba Femi at Clash in Italy, a bout that saw Lesnar even the score at 1-1 with ‘The Ruler’.
LA Knight, meanwhile, would score a team alongside The Usos to defeat IShowSpeed and The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory at WrestleMania 42, and is now set to feature in this year’s King of the Ring tournament with his sights firmly set on Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.
