Mark Davis On Kyle Fletcher: He’s Just Getting Started, He’s A Fantastic Wrestler

Mark Davis has nothing but praise to give his former Aussie Open tag team partner.

When Aussie Open officially signed with AEW in 2023, Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher were touted as being one of the “key cornerstones” for the tag division going forward. However, when Mark Davis got injured, Kyle Fletcher soon morphed into a dominant singles wrestler. First, he went to Ring Of Honor, winning the brand’s World Television Title. Then, once he ascended to main event status on Dynamite and Collision, he captured the TNT Championship and even went on challenge for the Men’s World Title. Now, Mark Davis has heaped praise on his former tag team partner.

In a chat with The Wrestling Classic, Davis lauded the current International Champion both as a person and as a wrestler.

“I think he’s only just still getting started, if I’m honest. He has such an undefeatable spirit. He gets so laser focused on what he wants to accomplish, and I think that he can just take it as far as he wants to. He’s honestly a fantastic person, fantastic wrestler. Very, very, very proud and very happy for him.”

Many consider Kyle Fletcher to be a guaranteed future world champion for AEW, with many tipping him to win the big one sooner rather than later. That said, Fletcher’s success made a portion of fans worry that Davis could be lost in the shuffle upon his return, and, thankfully, that hasn’t been the case. Since joining ‘The Protostar’ in the Don Callis Family, ‘Dunkzilla’ has proven himself to be a consistent and high-quality singles wrestler in his own right.

The 35-year-old currently the AEW National Champion, and is currently lined up to defend his gold at the upcoming AEW Redemption PPV against Andrade El Idolo. Notably, Davis has had two critically acclaimed matches with Will Ospreay of late, including one as part of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, proving that the future is bright for both former members of Aussie Open.
