MJF has openly stated that he hasn’t extended his AEW contract.

Current AEW World Champion MJF has never shied away from talking about his future. The 27-year-old has been signed with All Elite Wrestling since the inception of the company, but has made it part of his character to discuss when his contract is coming up. As such, ‘The Bidding War of 2024’ has become a point of reference for the star, with the suggestion from his side being that his current deal will expire on January 1 of next year.

In recent weeks, there have been indications that MJF has quietly extended his deal with AEW, however, while appearing on the SI Media Podcast, the AEW World Champion maintained his stance that his contract will expire in just over two weeks on January 1, 2024.

“I’ve never lied, January 1, 2024. When stuff like that gets leaked out, it makes me laugh because I remember something got leaked out about Cody having secretly re-signed, and then he showed up. Somebody got leaked out about, you know, CM Punk and Tony Khan, you know, actually fine, everything. You know? I think fans leak out things that they want to be true. I love AEW. I want to stay in AEW. After this pay-per-view, it’s time to assess the situation from a professional setting.”

MJF’s next AEW World Championship defence is set to come on December 30 against Samoa Joe at World’s End, just two days before the supposed end of his current All Elite Wrestling deal. As January 1 approaches, it will be interesting to see how much the New Yorker integrates his contract situation into his upcoming Dynamite appearances.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on MJF and his AEW contract status as we hear more.
