An update has emerged on the future of the AEW World Champion.

For around 18 months, MJF has teased fans with speculation over his future. In particular, the 27-year-old has made a point to tell fans that his AEW contract expires at the end of this year, and that he is expecting the ‘bidding war of 2024’ to potentially see him join WWE.

However, it seems as if the rumours surrounding MJF leaving Tony Khan’s company have been quashed, as Haus of Wrestling are reporting that there have been ‘zero talks’ between he and WWE, with the prevailing belief being that he has re-signed with AEW until 2027.

“Haus of Wrestling has heard from several WWE sources who believe Friedman has quietly re-signed with AEW. One higher-up WWE source stated that there have been “zero talks” between the two sides. They further noted that the idea Friedman is set to enter free agency imminently is a “false narrative” and that they believe he has re-signed into 2027.”

The idea of MJF departing All Elite Wrestling had become increasingly hard to believe, as the star has completed a babyface turn in recent months, and, as of writing has been AEW World Champion for a full calendar year. Friedman was able to successfully defend his gold against Jay White at Full Gear and is likely to have Samoa Joe challenging him in the near future.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on MJF and his AEW status as we hear more.
