Unfortunately, Wes Lee is set for a spell on the sidelines which could mean up to 12 months out.

On last week’s edition of NXT, Wes Lee defeated Bronson Reed, Cameron Grimes and Johnny Gargano to earn the next shot at Dominik Mysterio’s North American Championship. However, last night, Lee announced that he had suffered an injury and would unfortunately have to step away from the ring for an extended period of time, even saying that just standing in the ring to address the fans caused him immense pain.

To provide an update on his condition, PWInsider has confirmed that Wes’ injury is very much legitimate, and that the problem is with his back.

“The Wes Lee injury is 100% legitimate. We have heard it’s a back issue.”

In terms of how long Lee may be out for, Vic Joseph discussed the injury on NXT commentary by saying that the 29-year-old may have to miss anywhere between 8 and 12 months of in-ring action. When it comes to this Saturday’s NXT Deadline, it was announced that Dragon Lee will step in and challenge for Dominik Mysterio’s gold.

Of course, we wish Wes Lee a speedy recovery as he looks to bounce back from upcoming back surgery.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Wes Lee and his injury status as we hear more.
