Oba Femi Explains The Meaning Behind His Ring Name

Oba Femi has revealed the meaning behind his WWE ring name.
Since arriving on the main roster earlier this year, former NXT Champion Oba Femi has rapidly become one of WWE’s most dominant stars and continues to see his popularity skyrocket with every appearance.
Ahead of his WrestleMania debut, Oba Femi sat down with CNN’s Larry Madowo at WWE headquarters, during which he explained the meaning behind his ring name.
“Oba is the king, and in that name, it’s referencing God. And Femi is like ‘wants me.’ When you say, ‘This person Femi,’ that means they desire me or they want me. It’s a way of saying that one who’s after the king’s heart, or the one the king loves, God loves me. I love the meaning of the name.”

Oba Femi is set to take on Brock Lesnar in the opening match of Night Two of WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium on April 19, with the match between two of WWE’s most destructive forces set to air on ESPN.
‘The Ruler’ is one of many former NXT stars set to make their WrestleMania debut this weekend, and Shawn Michaels recently revealed that he only attends WrestleMania these days to watch former NXT talent compete at the event. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Oba Femi as soon as we hear more.
