It’s reportedly up in the air as to whether Kenny Omega will need surgery for his diverticulitis.
The wrestling world was shocked when the news broke on December 15 that Kenny Omega had been rushed into hospital with diverticulitis, particularly when it came out that the condition could have been life threatening had the 40-year-old not sought medical attention when he did. Understandably, we haven’t seen him make a return to AEW TV since his surprise diagnosis.
To provide the latest on Kenny’s condition, Dave Meltzer has written in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it’s still unclear as to whether Omega will need surgery to aid his recovery, and, if he does, that it would take a couple of months post-operation before he could be ready to return.
“A decision still hasn’t been made if he will undergo surgery for his Diverticulitis. If he has that surgery, it’ll be a couple of months after the surgery before he’d be able to return.”

While fans miss having Kenny Omega on our screens, his health is of utmost importance and we continue to wish him well in his recovery from diverticulitis. We looked forward to seeing him make a return to the ring should he be fully healthy and medically cleared down the line.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kenny Omega’s condition and diverticulitis recovery as soon as we hear more.
