Rhea Ripley Was Reportedly Set To Face Either Jacy Jayne Or Alexa Bliss At SummerSlam

Rhea Ripley’s original WWE SummerSlam plans have been revealed.
At Clash In Italy, during her WWE Women’s Championship defence against Jade Cargill, Rhea Ripley unfortunately sustained a knee injury. Shortly afterwards, WrestleVotes revealed via Fightful Select that the Australian is expected to be sidelined for a significant period of time. Now, with it appearing like she’ll miss SummerSlam, an update has emerged on the original plans for Ripley.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed Ripley was planned to face either Alexa Bliss or Jacy Jayne.
“The plan for Ripley’s match before the injury was to be either Alexa Bliss or Jacy Jayne.”
-Dave Meltzer
Ripley remains the Women’s Champion, with the company yet to address the status of the title. Should they opt to vacate the gold, it could provide the perfect opportunity for WWE to elevate Jayne to the next level, while Bliss remains a strong option when it comes to becoming world champion.
Speaking of the SummerSlam 2026 card, fans were surprised this past Monday when Oba Femi passed up the opportunity to vie for a world championship at SummerSlam in order to have his third match with Brock Lesnar. Elsewhere in the Observer, Meltzer revealed whether Femi’s SummerSlam match veered from the original plan. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Rhea Ripley’s original SummerSlam plans as soon as we hear more.
