AEW are expected to land the now-former WWE Superstar.

Over the past few months, several reports have indicated that former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet’s contract with WWE was set to expire, and more recent reports suggested that that date was now imminent, with the company having recently written the 35-year-old off of television after a backstage attack by Bron Breakker.

According to Fightful Select, Ricochet is now officially a free agent with his WWE contract having expired at midnight on July 1st, with the timing of this expiry preventing him from having appeared at last night’s Forbidden Door show.

“We can confirm that as of midnight on July 1, Ricochet’s deal with the company officially expired. The company moved him to their alumni section on June 30, a few hours before his deal was up. However, he was not contractually able to appear at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show.”

Despite being unable to appear last night, the report goes on to state that sources within both WWE and AEW expect Ricochet to join All Elite Wrestling, although despite the speculation, Fightful Select also added that Ricochet wasn’t planned as Will Ospreay’s opponent for AEW All In next month within recent weeks.

Regarding Ricochet’s fiance and Monday Night RAW’s ring announcer Samantha Irving, the report claims that she’s expected to remain with WWE.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Ricochet as soon as we hear more.
